Spring Break is almost here – but you don’t need to hop a plane to enjoy a wonderful getaway. Hop onboard public transit instead! Here are just a few of the places, right here in your own backyard, where you can enjoy fun, relaxation, rejuvenation and more, while you leave the driving to us!
Destination Dallas-Fort Worth
Perot Museum
Discover all kinds of cool science and natural history facts! Take advantage of the Museum’s extended Spring Break hours (from Saturday, March 9 through Saturday, March 16) and enjoy even more time exploring!
- Catch the A-train* to Trinity Mills Station
- Transfer to DART Green Line to Southwest Medical District/ Parkland Station and then catch DART bus 27.
Dallas World Aquarium
Explore the underwater and jungle worlds of the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico. The Aquarium is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily!
- Catch the A-train* to Trinity Mills Station
- Transfer to DART Green Line to West End Station and then take a half-mile walk or catch DART bus 27.
Klyde Warren Park
An easy transit ride will put you within a short walk of food, games, sports, majestic downtown views and so much more!
- Catch the A-train* to Trinity Mills TRANSFER to DART Green Line
- Ride the DART Green Line to St Paul Station
- WALK northwest four blocks to Klyde Warren Park, located at 2012 Woodall Rogers Freeway
Fort Worth Zoo
Enjoy a wild adventure at one of the nation’s top-rated zoos! Enjoy a family-friendly outing at the Zoo or a great date night! Zoo members get a 10% discount!
- Catch the A-train* to Trinity Mills Station
- TRANSFER to DART’s Green Line to Victory Station
- TRANSFER to the Trinity Railway Express and take it to Fort Worth’s Intermodal Transit Center
- Take the T-Route 7 to the Fort Worth Zoo
Fort Worth Stockyards
Learn more about Texas’ famous livestock industry where the West begins. Every Saturday you can thrill to Pawnee Bill’s Wild West Show at 2:30 and 4:30, featuring trick roping, shooting, riding, cowboy songs and more! Grab a bite at one of more than a dozen fantastic restaurants, then stay for the Stockyards’ famous championship rodeo at 8 p.m.!
- Catch the A-train* to Trinity Mills Station
- TRANSFER to DART’s Green Line to Victory Station
- TRANSFER to the Trinity Railway Express and take it to Fort Worth’s Intermodal Transit Center
- Take The T-Route 15 or (on Saturdays only) the Stockyards Shuttle
Destination Denton County
Downtown Denton Square
Whether you’re looking for historic discoveries, a place to listen to live music, a great meal, or one-of-a-kind shopping, you only have to walk a few steps from Denton County’s iconic courthouse to find it! Explore original works of art, antiques, fashion, hand-made treasures, vintage music, comics, games, culinary marvels and more!
In Denton:
- Catch the Connect Bus Route 7 for an easy ride to the Downtown Square
In Lewisville or Highland Village:
- Take the A-train* to the Downtown Denton Transit Center, then a short walk to the downtown square
Old Town Lewisville
Featuring buildings from the early 20th century, Old Town Lewisville offers delightful shopping, dining and more in a beautifully historic hometown setting. On Saturday, March 16, join the fun at Wayne Ferguson Plaza for a St. Paddy’s Day celebration, Texas-style, including performances by Maguire Academy of Irish Dance, Reel Treble Band, Rathmore and more! Denton Firefighters Museum
Located in the lobby of Central Fire Station this museum houses firefighting memorabilia from the 1800s to the present. Collections include an old hose cart that was pulled by hand, 1935 equipment from a ladder truck, breathing apparatuses from past decades and much more.
In Denton:
- Take the A-train* or catch Connect Bus Route 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7 or 8 to the Downtown Denton Transit Center, then a short walk to 332 E Hickory St.
In Lewisville or Highland Village:

Lone Star Indoor Sports & Event Center
THE go-to destination for roller skating, inline hockey, roller derby, and endless year ‘round fun!
In Denton:
- Catch the Connect Bus Route 3 to Trinity Road
- Walk about two minutes to 222. S Mayhill Rd.
In Lewisville or Highland Village:
- Take the A-train* to the Downtown Denton Transit Center located near the heart of Denton

Patterson-Appleton Arts Center
Spring break is your ideal opportunity to enjoy one of the premier craft exhibitions in the country, right here in Denton! Materials: Hard + Soft International Contemporary Craft Competition and Exhibition was initiated by area artist Georgia Leach Gough in 1987.
Now in its 32nd year, the show features top national and international contemporary craft artists who are pushing the boundaries of their chosen media. This year’s collection was selected from more than 1,000 submissions from eight countries around the world and includes works in metal, wood, plastic, ceramic, fiber, glass, and mixed media.
