DCTA gets you to all the fun this holiday season

Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA) is getting into the holiday spirit, just as we all are this time of year. Wherever you need to go in Denton, Lewisville or Highland Village, DCTA can help get you there this holiday season, and we can also help you get to some special events around town.

On Saturday, December 2, the Denton Holiday Lighting Festival takes place at the Denton County Courthouse-on-the-Square from 3:00 PM to 9:00PM. The easiest and most fun way to get there is to park your vehicle for free at the DCTA MedPark Station (3220 MedPark Drive, Denton, Texas 76208) and take a free ride on the A-train to the Downtown Denton Transit Center (DDTC), which is just a five-minute walk from the festivities. For your planning purposes, the A-train runs hourly on Saturdays, and the last departure back to MedPark leaves at 9:00 PM.

Denton residents can also take a Connect Bus to the DDTC or a GoZone directly to the square for only $1.50, a price that makes transit affordable for everyone.

Be sure and take the little ones for a ride on the kiddie train, sponsored by DCTA (What can we say? We love trains…) while you are enjoying the Denton Holiday Lighting Festival.

Also on Saturday, December 2 in Lewisville, DCTA will be participating in the Huffines Auto Dealerships Christmas Parade with a GoZone vehicle as part of the Old Town Holiday Stroll event in Lewisville. The parade starts at 1:00 PM on Saturday, and is the conclusion of the two-day Holiday Stroll event, which begins Friday, December 1 and also runs Saturday, December 2.

Finally, DCTA is a proud sponsor of the Mrs. Claus Storytime events happening at The Shops at Highland Village throughout the month of December. Mrs. Claus will be reading holiday classics at Cheeky Monkeys on Thursdays in December, specifically:

Readings will take place from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on those three Thursdays, and guests will be admitted into the Storytime with the purchase of a snack from Cheeky Monkeys Café.

For the Christmas and New Year holiday season, our GoZone on-demand rideshare service will be available every day through the holidays, serving customers in Denton, Lewisville and Highland Village. GoZone will operate with Sunday service hours (8:00 AM to 6:00 PM) in place on Christmas Day (December 25), December 26, New Year’s Day (January 1) and January 2.

As you can imagine with the holiday season, even our transit workers deserve some holiday downtime, and that means some service interruptions. DCTA A-train and Connect Bus services will not operate on Monday December 25 and Monday, January 1, and will also not be in operation on Sundays as usual.
