4 FREE Ways to #RideDCTA

Did you know you can #RideDCTA for free? Well, in certain situations. We offer free event shuttles and free ride promos for special occasions and events! Find out how you can save money with DCTA with our free options below.

A-train Free Fare Zones

Do you just need to go one stop over? You can on the A-train through our free fare zones! If you get on our A-train at the Downtown Denton Transit Center (DDTC) and ride to MedPark station, your ride is on us! Parking at MedPark station and taking the train to downtown Denton is a great way to avoid trying to park on the square. Our second free fare zone can take you from Hebron Station to the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) Green Line at the Trinity Mills station. You will still need to purchase a DART local pass if you plan to ride the Green Line.

Free Fares

DCTA also offers these free fares if you meet one of these criteria:

• Sworn peace officer in uniform or with a visible badge
• Children under five with a fare-paying adult
• Denton County active jurors with a valid juror summons or current juror badge
• ADA-certified riders with valid IDs (excluding Access service)
• North Central Texas College (NCTC) IDs accepted on NCTC Campus Shuttle, Highland Village Connection Shuttle and Denton and Lewisville Connect in lieu of fare for students, faculty and staff (as part of transportation fee)
• University of North Texas (UNT) IDs accepted on UNT Campus Shuttle, Highland Village Connect Shuttle and Denton and Lewisville Connect in lieu of fare for students, faculty and staff (as part of transportation fee)

Free DCTA Rides to Major Events and Festivals

We offer free select service for special events that happen throughout our member cities. Make sure you never miss a free shuttle service by signing up for Rider Alerts and opt-in to receive information about our special events. This past year we have provided free shuttle service for Denton Arts & Jazz Festival, the Thin Line Festival, the Highland Village Balloon Festival, Bike to Work Day and more! Make sure to look out for our free shuttle service for Lewisville Western Days on September 27^th and 28^th.
