The new year is here and what better way to start it off by having some fun! Leave your car behind and ride DCTA to the many Denton County events this month such as the Texas Tunes concert series in Lewisville or the inspiring Denton Black Film Festival in Denton. Denton Bridal Show (January 14)
The 2017 Denton Bridal Show will feature the best wedding vendors in and around Denton County. The event will take place at Texas Woman’s University (TWU) in Hubbard Hall on Saturday, January 14, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. In addition to wedding vendors, don’t miss your chance to win raffle prizes! Texas Tunes Presents Radney Foster (January 14)
The Medical Center of Lewisville (MCL) Grand Theater will kick off their 2017 Texas Tunes concert series with Texas-born singer Radney Foster on Saturday, January 14 at 8 p.m. Ticket prices are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors 60 and older, and $10 for children 12 and under. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration (January 16)
Come enjoy the all-day Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration in Denton on Monday, January 16, with the theme of “Our Past Will Shape Our Future.” Festivities will include a flag football game starting at 11 a.m. at the MLK Jr. Rec Center. In addition, there will be a rally at the University of North Texas (UNT) Union at 3 p.m., a march starting at UNT’s Union at 4:30 p.m. with both events ending at Fred Moore Park with a community meet and greet at 5 p.m. Ride the A-train and Denton Connect Routes 2, 7 and 8 to connect to the various locations for this free family event!
Red River Songwriters’ Tour (January 19)
Spend the evening filling your ears with the music of some of the most talented and respected songwriters in today’s landscape of Americana Music at the Red Rivers Songwriters Tour at the Medical Center of Lewisville (MCL) Grand Theater on Thursday, January 19. The show will start at 7 p.m. sharp, and you don’t want to be a minute late! Artists such as John Fullbright, Slaid Cleaves, Jamie Lin Wilson and Micheal Hearne and much more will be a part of the lineup. Denton Black Film Festival (January 27-29)
The Denton Black Film Festival is a three-day affair of engaging and entertaining films and events from January 27 to 29, at the Campus Theatre in the historic downtown Denton square. The festival will feature family-friendly films inspired by the African-American experience that entertain, educate, inspire, and communicate Black American cultural themes to the broader community.
