11th Annual 125-Mile Visual Arts Exhibition (February 1 through February 25)
The Visual Arts Society of Texas (VAST) created this exhibition to reinstate their long tradition of showcasing 2D and 3D-juried artwork from artists in Dallas and Fort Worth, all the way to southern Oklahoma. The free art exhibit will take place in the Gough Gallery at the Patterson-Appleton Arts Center in Denton and will run until February 25. First Friday Denton (February 3)
Experience Denton’s art scene in many forms on “First Friday.” Local businesses and galleries will have activities throughout the evening on Friday, February 3, between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. Stroll through downtown Denton to experience and observe local art activities. Materials: Hard + Soft Exhibition (February 7 through May 6)
The Greater Denton Arts Council proudly presents the annual Materials: Hard & Soft National Contemporary Craft Competition and Exhibition, recognized as one of the premier craft exhibitions in the country. The council will choose 70 works from hundreds of applications to exhibit at the Patterson-Appleton Center for the Visual Arts in Denton from February 7 through May 6, 2017. Lil’ Valentine Family Dance (February 10)
It’s a party! Bring your kids to the Lil’ Valentine Family Dance on Friday, February 10, at 7 p.m. at the Denton Civic Center. Families with kids up to 12 years old are welcome to join the festivities. Kids can partake in photos, roses and glow fun! Tickets are $7 per person through February 7 or $10 per person at the door. “Farewell” Symphony Series (February 17)
The talented musicians of the Lewisville Lake Symphony will perform “Farewell” at the Symphony Series concert on Friday, February 17, at 7:30 p.m. at the Medical Center of Lewisville (MCL) Grand Theater in Old Town Lewisville. Violist Yong-Ha Jung, a junior at Flower Mound High School, will be a special guest for the evening. Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors and $10 for students; and can be purchased at the door or online. Ride the A-train to the Old Town Station and take a quick walk to enjoy the symphony.
