Your COVID-19 Summer Staycation Guide

This summer doesn’t have to be boring because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Go on a staycation! There are a few places right in your own backyard that we think are great ways to get out while still staying safe and protecting yourself and others from illness. Just hop on public transit and let us do the driving while you enjoy your summer staycation safely!

Destination Dallas- Fort Worth
Fair Park
When the State Fair of Texas isn’t in full swing, Fair Park is quietly one of the nation’s largest collections of 1930s Art Deco architecture. Even if you aren’t an architecture buff, the gigantic murals, fountains, Ferris wheel and Cotton Bowl football stadium make it an interesting place to walk around while keeping a safe social distance.
- Take DCTA’s A-train* to the Trinity Mills Station
- Transfer to DART’s Green Line and ride to Fair Park Station

Amon Carter Museum of American Art
Looking for the perfect family picnic spot while still keeping a safe distance? Enjoy the best view of downtown at the Carter while you play, twirl or lounge on the lawn!
- Take DCTA’s A-train* to the Downtown Denton Transit Center (DDTC)
- Take Denton Connect Bus Route 7 towards Texas Health Presbyterian Park & Ride
- Take the North Texas Xpress (Route 64) bus service and ride it to the Fort Worth Central Station
- Transfer to Trinity Metro Bus Route 002 and ride it to Amon Carter Museum located at Camp Bownie/Ridgmar

Fort Worth Zoo
Swing by one of the nation’s top-rated zoos, the Fort Worth Zoo, for a real summer adventure! This is the perfect spot for all sorts of outings whether for a day with family or a date night spent walking around. Don’t forget to make your reservation as they are limiting the number of people allowed in the zoo at one time!
- Take DCTA’s A-train* to the Trinity Mills Station in Carrollton
- Transfer to DART’s Green Line and ride to Victory Station
- Transfer to the Trinity Railway Express (TRE) and take it to Fort Worth Central Station
- Take the Trinity Metro Bus Route 7 to the Fort Worth Zoo, located at 1989 Colonial Parkway

Destination Denton County
Downtown Denton Square
Take a stroll through the Downtown Denton Square to listen to live music, grab some grub, shop and much more! Be there or be square! I know shopping can be exciting, but don’t forget to take your time to always maintain the recommended social distance!
Denton residents:
- Catch DCTA’s Connect Bus Route 7 directly to the Downtown Square
Lewisville and Highland Village residents:
- Take DCTA’s A-train* to the DDTC
- Walk a few quick minutes to the Downtown Square

Old Town Lewisville
Old Town Lewisville will make you feel right at home with its historic hometown setting where you can shop, dine and more. If your favorite shop seems crowded, walk around and make another round later. Keeping others and yourself safe is the key!
Denton residents:
- Take DCTA’s A-train* to the Charles Emery Old Town station

Lewisville residents:
- Take DCTA’s Connect Bus Route 22 to the Charles Emery Old Town station
Highland Village residents:
- Take the Highland Village Lyft Program to the Highland Village/Lewisville Lake station
- Take DCTA’s A-train* to the Charles Emery Old Town station
- Catch DCTA Route 22 bus at NB Summit @ Civic in Lewisville

Patterson – Appleton Arts Center
Stay home and enjoy the Patterson-Appleton Arts Center which is home to two large galleries, art studio, dance rehearsal has and sculpture garden. You can now view current exhibitions online and general admission is free!
In Denton:
- Take the A-train* or catch Denton Connect Bus Route 1, 2, 3, 6 or 7 to the Downtown Denton Transit Center
- Walk to the Patterson located at 400 E. Hickory St.

In Lewisville or Highland Village:
- Take the A-train* to the Downtown Denton Transit Center
