The most wonderful time of the year is officially here, and we can’t wait to get you to all the holiday fun and cheer! Ride DCTA to support the many Denton County holiday events, such as the Denton Holiday Lighting Festival or watching Elf the Musical Jr. come to life right before your eyes. See how we can get you to these events and much more this holiday season!
Denton Holiday Lighting Festival (December 2)
Denton’s Annual Holiday Lighting Festival will take place on Friday, December 2, on the Denton Historic Courthouse Square, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. There will be live local music, food and family fun for all! The event is free with some food and activities available for purchase. In conjunction with the festival, DCTA is spreading holiday cheer with free rides on the A-train and Connect buses to the festival for passengers who say the secret code word “GINGERBREAD” to our rail and bus operators. Lewisville’s Holiday Stroll (December 3)
Lewisville’s Holiday Stroll will take place on Saturday, December 3, in Old Town Lewisville, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Attendees can enjoy a wide range of free family activities, such as pictures with Santa, gingerbread house contest judging, tree lighting, window display stroll, live music and entertainment, children’s crafts, and more. Event goers can ride the A-train and Lewisville Connect Route 22 to get to all the holiday festivities! For more information, visit www.cityoflewisville.com.
Elf the Musical Jr. (December 9 – 11)
Elf the Musical Jr. will be held at The Actors Conservatory Theatre in Lewisville on Friday, December 9 through 11 at various times including 2 p.m., 7 p.m. and possibly an 11 a.m. showing. Come watch as Buddy the “elf” journeys to find his true identity! Tickets are on sale and you can purchase them at www.getintotheact.org. Ride the A-train to the Old Town Station in Lewisville and transfer to Lewisville Connect Route 22 and then hop on the Lewisville Connect Route 21, respectively. (Note: DCTA does not operate service on Sunday)
Denton Reindeer Romp (December 9)
Enjoy the holidays with a 4.2-mile run or a 2.5-mile walk on Friday, December 19, starting at 6:30 p.m. at South Lakes Park in Denton. The entry fee is $15 per run before the registration deadline on Friday, December 9 and $20 the day of the race which includes a t-shirt, snacks and beverages. In addition, there will be a Free Holiday Fun Zone for kids from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. which will include a giant bounce house, face painting, and arts and crafts. The Nutcracker (December 10)
Come watch as The Festival Ballet of North Texas showcases The Nutcracker on Saturday, December 10. This Denton holiday tradition starts at 2:30 pm at The Margo Jones Performance Hall. Attendees will get to watch 200-plus cast members during this professional, quality performing experience. Event-goers can take Denton Connect Route 6 to see the magical dancing.
