Materials: Hard & Soft National Contemporary Craft Competition and Exhibition
The Greater Denton Arts Council proudly presents the annual Materials: Hard & Soft National Contemporary Craft Competition and Exhibition, recognized as one of the premier craft exhibitions in the country. The council will choose 70 works from hundreds of applications to exhibit at the Patterson-Appleton Center for the Visual Arts from February 5 through April 1, 2016. Driving Miss Daisy
The Denton Community Theatre presents “Driving Miss Daisy” by Alfred Uhry will take place February 5-6, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. at the Campus Theatre. This play is sweet and heartwarming with an affirming message rather than a self-righteous one. Ticket prices are $15 individually and there are also group ticket packages. The Campus Theatre is accessible by the A-train (short walk from the DDTC).
Master Class Play
The Greater Lewisville Community Theatre presents “Master Class,” a Tony-award winning play that centers around real-life diva Maria Callas from February 12-28, 2016. As her career winds down, you see her as a glamorous, commanding, and funny teacher holding a voice master class at Julliard. Alternately dismayed and impressed by the students she sees, she retreats into recollections about the glories of her own life and career. It culminates with a stirring monologue about sacrifice made in the name of art. Ride the A-train to Old Town Station and take a brisk walk to the theatre. For more information, visit www.glct.org. Thin Line Festival
The ninth annual festival will be held February 17-21, 2016 in the historic downtown Denton square. For five days, The Thin Line Festival will feature high quality documentary films, world-class music, and a diverse selection of photography. Ride the A-train to the DDTC and take a brisk walk to downtown Denton see all the unique films, national and regional bands, and a variety of curated print and digitally-exhibited photographs. Buchanan Markets: Antiques and Collectibles Market
Voted Best Flea Market by D-Magazine Dallas Observer in 2007, The Buchanan Antiques & Collectibles Market has grown to be one of the finest and most respected antique and collectible markets in the United States. This event takes place on February 27-28, 2016 from 9 to 5 p.m. at the Lewisville Premier Event Center. Check out the antiques and collectibles from dealers across the US and Europe!
