Fall is in the air and there are plenty of reasons why you should get out and enjoy it! Celebrate the fall harvest at Denton’s Day of the Dead Festival or have a laugh at the Shrek musical in Lewisville. Check out how we can get you to these events and much more this October!
Oktoberfest on Walnut Festival (October 7)
This free street festival will take over the block of Walnut Street in Denton on Friday, October 7 at 5 p.m. and will feature live music, great food vendors, imported and domestic beer, face painting and more! Ride the A-train to the Euline Brock Downtown Denton Transit Center (DDTC) and take a quick walk to Walnut Street. For more information, visit www.facebook.com/Walnut-off-the-Square.
Cholorock Dance Collective Fall Concert (October 7)
Express yourself in the style of dance at the Cholorock Dance Collective fall concert that will be held on Friday, October 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the Campus Theatre in Denton. It’s primary mission is to bring dance and cultural appreciation to Denton through modern and contemporary dance with a Hispanic flair. Ticket prices are $10 and can be bought at www.cholorockdc.com/. Ride the A-train to the Euline Brock Downtown Denton Transit Center (DDTC) and take a quick walk to the historic Campus Theatre to dance all night long!
Shrek the Musical (October 21 – 23)
Shrek the Musical will be held at the Music Theatre of Denton on October 21 through 23 at 7:30 p.m. Come watch as Shrek and friends come to life with MTD’s last musical of the 2016 season. Single ticket prices are $20 for adults, $18 for senior citizens, $15 for students and $10 for children under 12 and can be purchased at www.musictheatreofdenton.com/shrek. Ride the A-train to the Euline Brock Downtown Denton Transit Center (DDTC) and take a quick walk to the historic Campus Theatre to watch this family-fun experience. “Don’t Fence Me In” Exhibit (October 25 – 29)
This free art exhibit will showcase the art of the Visual Art League of Lewisville members’ interpretations of Texas’ independent spirit and ethnic and social diversity at the Medical Center of Lewisville Grand Theater. It will be open every Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. through 5 p.m. until Saturday, October 29. Art goers can ride the A-train to Old Town Station and transfer to Lewisville Connect Route 22 to see all the art. For more information, visit www.mclgrand.com.
Denton’s Day of the Dead Festival (October 29)
Denton’s Day of the Dead Festival is a free, family-friendly event that will be held outside on East Hickory and Industrial Street on October 29, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Don’t miss your chance to celebrate the fall season by paying homage to the goodness of the harvest, Dia de los Muertos and all things Halloween. Festival goers can ride the A-train and take Denton Connect Routes 7, 8 and 9 to get all the Halloween fun. For more information, visit www.dentondayofthedeadfestival.com.
