Even though the hot summer months are coming to an end, a variety of events are popping up throughout Denton, Highland Village and Lewisville this month! From admiring classic cars and unique antiques to listening to blues music and popular bands, DCTA can get you to all these events in Denton County.
Fresh Ideas Art Exhibit
The Fresh Ideas 2017 Exhibit features innovative and exciting pieces of art created by artists from Texas and surrounding states. The 47 pieces of art will be on display in the main art gallery of the MCL Grand Theatre, showcasing the range of talented artists whose skills showcase a variety of methods and techniques. The free exhibit will run until September 9 and is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Exhibit attendees can ride Lewisville Connect Route 22. For more information, visit mclgrand.com.
Denton’s Annual Arts & Autos Extravaganza
This free event – hosted by the Denton Main Street Association – is a classic car, truck and motorcycle showcase as well as a hands-on art and crafts, games, Chalk Fest and live music festival. The event will be held on Saturday, September 9, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. around the downtown Denton square. Event goers can take Denton Connect Routes 7 and 8 to see neat artwork and vintage cars. Denton Blues Festival
Love singing and listening to the blues? The Denton Black Chamber of Commerce is hosting its 19th Annual Denton Blues Festival which will feature music and activities for the entire family! The festival will take place at Quakertown Park on Friday, September 15, at 6 p.m. through Sunday, September 17, at 8 p.m. Festival goers can ride the A-train and take Denton Connect Routes 5 or 6 to listen to amazing blues music. Lewisville Western Days Festival
The Lewisville Western Days Festival will take place Friday, September 29, from 5 to 11:30 p.m. and Saturday, September 30, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. in Old Town Lewisville. Three festival stages will feature national and regional live music, with headliners Turnpike Troubadours and Randy Rogers Band. In addition to music, there will be many activities to partake in such as trick ropers, kid’s stick horse rodeo and more. Festival goers can ride the A-train to the Old Town and Hebron Station and take our free event shuttles to all the fun! North Texas Trade Days
Homemade crafts, embroidered t-shirts and unique finds will line the shelves and booths for shoppers at the North Texas Trade Days: Fall into Fall event. The trade day, which will take place at the North Texas Fair Grounds on Saturday, September 30, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, October 1, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., is a family-friendly trade market that offers collectibles, clothing, antiques and more for everyone. The event is $5 at the door and free for kids 12 years old and under, so hop onto the A-train and take Denton Connect Route 4 to get to shopping! For more information, visit northtexastradedays.com/.
