Denton Bridal Show
The Denton Bridal Show will feature the best wedding vendors in and around Denton County. The event will take place at Texas Woman’s University (TWU) Hubbard Hall on Saturday, January 23 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. In addition to wedding vendors, don’t miss your chance to win raffle prizes and see the live fashion show! Denton Black Film Festival
The Denton Black Film Festival is a three-day affair of engaging and entertaining films and events from January 29-31, 2016 at the Campus Theatre in the historic downtown Denton square. The festival will have family-friendly films inspired by the African-American experience featuring local, national and international filmmakers not often seen by a broad audience or shown in national theatres. MLK Jr. Celebration
Come enjoy the all-day MLK Jr. Celebration in Denton on Monday, January 18, with the theme of Building the Bonds of Humanity. Festivities will include a flag football game starting at 11 a.m. at the MLK Jr. Rec Center. In addition, there will be a rally at the University of North Texas (UNT) Union at 3:30 p.m., a march starting at UNT’s Union at 4:30 with both events ending at Fred Moore Park with a Denton community meet and greet at 5 p.m. Ride the A-train and Denton Connect Routes 2, 7 and 8 to connect to the various locations for this free family event!
The Lion in Winter by James Goldman
Enjoy this play about King Henry II and his family during Christmas of 1183. The event will happen on January 15 at 7:30 p.m. at The Denton Community Theatre. As the family and various schemers gather for the holiday, each tries to make the indecisive king choose their option to declare their success to the throne. Ticket prices are $22 for adults, $18 for seniors (62+), and $15 for students (through college) and $10 for children 12 and under. The Campus Theatre is accessible by the A-train (short walk from the DDTC).
A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS art exhibit
The Visual Art League (VAL) of Lewisville presents a multimedia art exhibit open to VAL’s members imagination and talents. The exhibit will be open Tuesdays through Saturdays, starting on January 9 and ending January 30, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and during performances at the MCL Grand. The Medical Center of Lewisville Grand Theater is accessible by Lewisville Connect Route 23.
Big Denton Playdate
Bring the kids to engage in fun games designed to delight young children and encourage early literacy on Saturday, January 30 at Emily Fowler Central Library in Denton from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. This free event will have the kids ready to turn ordinary household objects into their favorite toy! The Emily Fowler Central Library is accessible by Denton Connect Route 6.
