Summer is officially here! Let’s kick it off by checking out the different musicals and festival going on around Denton County this month!
Sounds of Lewisville Concert Series (June and July)
The “Sounds of Lewisville” concert series is a free summertime family event in Old Town Lewisville held weekly in June and July. Performers include some of the top musical acts in North Texas. Concert goers can ride the A-train to Old Town Station and transfer to Lewisville Connect Route 23 to get to all the musical entertainment. For more information, visit www.soundsoflewisville.com.
“Recycled Into Art” exhibit (June and July)
This art exhibit will showcase the art of Members of the Visual Art League of Lewisville that was created using repurposed materials such as paper, magazines, metal, failed artwork, etc. at the Medical Center of Lewisville Grand Theater. It will be open every Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. until Saturday, July 2. Art goers can ride the A-train to Old Town Station and transfer to Lewisville Connect Route 23. “Rumors” (June 16 – 19)
Campus Theatre will showcase this uproariously funny play by Neil Simon. It will be held on Thursday, June 16 – Sunday, June 19 at 7:30 p.m. Single ticket prices are $22 for adults, $18 for senior citizens, $15 for students and $10 for children under 12 and can be purchased at dentoncommunitytheatre.com. This play will Walk from DDTC. Ride the A-train to the Euline Brock Downtown Denton Transit Center (DDTC) and take a quick walk to the historic Campus Theatre to witness this magical experience. (Note: DCTA does not operate services on Sunday)
Juneteenth Celebration (June 17 – 19)
The City of Denton will be celebrating its 45th Annual Juneteenth Celebration this year! Come enjoy the festivities on Friday, June 17 –Sunday, June 19 at Fred Moore Park in Denton. This historic and oldest known celebration commemorating the end of slavery in America is a free event and fun for the whole family. Ride the A-train to the Euline Brock Downtown Denton Transit Center and transfer to Connect Route 2 to get to enjoy the weekend fun! For more information, visit www.juneteenthdentontx.org. Best Little Brewfest in Texas (June 18)
Best Little Brewfest in Texas is a craft beer festival in Old Town Lewisville that will be held on Saturday, June 18, starting at 3 p.m. More than 50 craft breweries from all over Texas will be present with 100 plus handcrafted brews to serve thousands of beer lovers.
