The anticipation is finally over, Spring Break is right around the corner! Here are a few places, right here in your own backyard, that we thought you would enjoy without relying on your car to get you there. Just hop on onboard public transit and let us do the driving while you enjoy your spring break staycation!
Destination Dallas – Fort Worth
Perot Museum of Nature and Science
Enjoy different aspects of science and history this Spring Break at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science where you can explore exhibits, films, and much more!
- Catch DCTA’s A-train* to the Trinity Mills Station in Carrollton
- TRANSFER to DART’s Green Line and ride it to the Southwest Medical District/ Parkland station
- Catch the DART Bus Route 27 to get there
The Dallas World Aquarium
The Dallas World Aquarium will take your breath away with its astonishing underwater and jungle worlds. The aquarium is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, so make sure to stop on by.
- Catch DCTA’s A-train* to the Trinity Mills Station in Carrollton
- TRANSFER to DART’s Green Line and ride it to West End Station
- WALK north five minutes to arrive at the Dallas World Aquarium, located at 1801 N. Griffin St.
Klyde Warren Park
Whether you are planning a picnic in the park, looking for a place to meditate, or wanting to explore the activities close by, Klyde Warren Park has it all!
- Catch DCTA’s A-train* to the Trinity Mills Station in Carrollton
- TRANSFER to DART’s Green Line and ride it to the St. Paul Station
- WALK northwest four blocks and arrive at Klyde Warren Park, located at 2012 Woodall Rogers Freeway
Fort Worth Zoo
Swing by one of the nation’s top-rated zoos, the Fort Worth Zoo, for a real spring break adventure! This is the perfect spot for all sorts of outings whether for a day with family and friends or a date night spent prowling around.
- Catch DCTA’s A-train* to the Trinity Mills Station in Carrollton
- TRANSFER to DART’s Green Line and ride it to Victory Station
- TRANSFER to the Trinity Railway Express (TRE) and take it to Fort Worth Central Station
- Take the Trinity Metro Bus Route 7 to the Fort Worth Zoo, located at 1989 Colonial Parkway
Fort Worth Stockyards
Curious about where the West began with Texas’ famous livestock industry? Then the Fort Worth Stockyards is the place to be! Enjoy the Bull Riding Hall of Fame, Cowtown Cattle Pen Maze and so much more while enjoying the history of such a magnificent place. Make sure not to miss out on the Stockyard’s famous championship rodeos at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights!

Destination Denton County
Downtown Denton Square
Take a stroll through the Downtown Denton Square this Spring Break to listen to live music, grab some grub, shop til’ you drop and much more! Be there or be square!
Denton residents:

Lewisville and Highland Village residents:
- Take DCTA’s A-train* to the Downtown Denton Transit Center (DDTC)
- WALK a few quick minutes to the Downtown Square
Old Town Lewisville
Old Town Lewisville will make you feel right at home with its historic hometown setting where you can shop, dine and more. On Saturday, March 14, head to Wayne Ferguson Plaza for St. Paddy’s Day Texas Style including performances by The Selkie Girls, JB and the Moonshine Band and more! There will also be carnival attractions including a 40-foot zip line, bounces houses and face painters. It’s an event you won’t want to miss!
Denton residents:
- Take DCTA’s A-train* to the Lewisville Old Town station
Lewisville residents:
- Catch DCTA’s Connect Bus Route 22 to Old Town Lewisville
Highland Village residents:
- Take the Highland Village Lyft Program to the Highland Village/Lewisville Lake Station
- Catch DCTA Connect Route 21 bus at SB Summit @ FM 407 in Lewisville
- Catch DCTA Route 22 bus at NB Summit @ Civic in Lewisville
Denton Firefighters Museum
Intrigued by the evolution of firefighting? Mosey on down to the Denton Firefighters Museum! The Museum has a collection of firefighting memorabilia from the 1800s all the way up to present day. The Museum is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and admission is FREE!
Denton residents:
- Take the A-train* or catch DCTA Connect Bus Routes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 or 8 to the Downtown Denton Transit Center (DDTC)
- WALK to 332 E Hickory St.
Lewisville and Highland Village residents:

Lone Star Indoor Sports and Events Center
Spend the day at the Lone Star Indoor Sports and Events Center where you can roller skate, play inline hockey and participate in a roller derby, among other fun activities!
Denton residents:
- Catch DCTA’s Connect Bus Route 3 to Trinity Road
- WALK about 2 minutes to 222 S. Mayhill Rd.
Lewisville and Highland Village residents:
- Take the A-train* to the Downtown Denton Transit Center
- Catch DCTA’s Connect Bus Route 3 to Trinity Road
- WALK about two minutes to 222 S. Mayhill Rd.
Patterson – Appleton Arts Center
This Spring Break is the perfect time to check out the Patterson-Appleton Arts Center which is home to one of the premier craft exhibitions in the country. The Materials: Hard + Soft International Contemporary Craft Competition and Exhibition is now in its 33rd year and showcases top national and international artists.
In Denton:
- Take the A-train* or catch Connect Bus Route 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7 or 8 to the Downtown Denton Transit Center (DDTC)
